External display above MacBook
When you connect an external display, ChassisWatch places it above the MacBook's built-in display, centered. The script uses only tools that come with macOS.
How it works
- macOS saves the new arrangement, the same as dragging the display in System Settings > Displays > Arrange.
- The display with the menu bar stays where it is and the others move around it. If the external display has the menu bar, the MacBook moves below it instead.
- Several external displays are placed side by side above the MacBook, centered as a group, in their current left-to-right order. Mirrored displays are left as they are.
- It waits 3 seconds after a display connects so macOS can finish setting it up.
- It does nothing while the lid is closed or when the displays are already in place.
