1. Introduction and Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your purchase and use of ChassisWatch (the "Software"), a macOS app provided by Coffee Break Ideas, LLC ("we," "our," or "us").

By downloading, installing, activating a license for, or otherwise using the Software, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't install or use the Software.

2. Eligibility and Requirements

You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction to purchase or use the Software.

ChassisWatch requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 14.6 or later. No account is required to use it.

Not every trigger works on every supported Mac; some depend on hardware your specific model may lack, and sensor behavior can vary between models even where a trigger is nominally supported. ChassisWatch's built-in Diagnostics will tell you if your Mac is Partially Supported, Unsupported, or otherwise not a full match before you buy. Purchase remains available regardless of that result, but if you buy anyway, a refund request may take the disclosed compatibility warning into account.

You agree to use the Software only for lawful purposes and in a way that doesn't infringe on the rights of others or attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to any system it connects to.

3. Purchases, Licensing, and Refunds

ChassisWatch is sold as a one-time purchase per device, not a subscription. There's no recurring billing. Your license includes free access to every future update, including major new versions, for as long as the Software is commercially offered and supported.

Purchases are processed by Polar, our payment processor. We don't see or store your card details; see our Privacy Policy for how that data is handled.

A license activates on one Mac at a time. You can move your license to a different Mac by deactivating it on the old one (Settings > License) and activating it on the new one.

Refunds: if ChassisWatch isn't for you, email support@chassis.watch within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. This doesn't cover hardware damage; see Section 7.

Prices are shown in USD and exclude VAT or other applicable taxes, which may be added at checkout depending on your location.

4. License Grant and Acceptable Use

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, revocable license to install and use the Software on Macs you own or control, up to the number of devices your purchase covers.

The Software is licensed, not sold. We retain all right, title, and interest in the Software, including its underlying code, the ChassisWatch name and logo, and any other associated intellectual property.

You agree not to:

• reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits this despite the restriction;
• resell, sublicense, or share your license key with people outside your own use of the Software;
• remove or obscure any proprietary notices in the Software; or
• use the Software to build a competing product.

5. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of your use of the Software or your breach of these Terms.

6. Support and Updates

We provide support by email at support@chassis.watch on a best-effort basis; we don't currently commit to a specific response time.

We may release updates, and may change or discontinue features of the Software over time. We'll try to avoid removing functionality you've paid for without good reason, but we don't guarantee the Software will always work exactly as it does today. Apple can also change macOS or the hardware interfaces ChassisWatch relies on in ways that affect compatibility, which is outside our control.

7. Hardware Disclaimer

ChassisWatch includes triggers, such as Chassis Tap, that ask you to physically tap or strike your MacBook's chassis to fire an automation. YOU USE THESE TRIGGERS ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK. WE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ANY AND ALL RESPONSIBILITY FOR DAMAGE TO YOUR HARDWARE RESULTING FROM AN ACCIDENTAL, FORCEFUL, OR OTHERWISE PHYSICAL TRIGGER, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• cracked, scratched, or otherwise damaged displays;
• damaged hinges, enclosures, or internal components;
• malfunctioning keyboards, trackpads, or sensors;
• voided manufacturer warranties; and
• data loss resulting from physical impact.

If you tap harder than your Mac is built to take, or in a way that damages it, that damage is yours, not ours. If tapping your MacBook makes you uneasy, use a different trigger instead. ChassisWatch offers several that don't require physical contact.

By enabling Chassis Tap, you acknowledge this risk and accept it.

8. Tap Detection

Chassis Tap detection isn't perfect. It can miss a tap you intended, or fire on a knock you didn't. You're responsible for choosing an action appropriate to that uncertainty and for tuning sensitivity so it matches how you actually use your Mac; see our tap calibration guide.

9. Automations and Third-Party Actions

Some ChassisWatch actions, including Run Apple Shortcut, keyboard shortcuts, and media keys, do real things on your Mac when triggered: they can run a Shortcut you built, send keystrokes to whatever app is active, or change system settings. You're responsible for what you configure a trigger to do. We aren't liable for the consequences of an automation firing as configured, including one that fires unintentionally per Section 8.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DON'T WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR COMPATIBLE WITH EVERY MAC OR MACOS VERSION.

SOME JURISDICTIONS DON'T ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

11. Limitation of Liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL COFFEE BREAK IDEAS, LLC'S TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SOFTWARE.

SOME JURISDICTIONS DON'T ALLOW THE LIMITATION OF CERTAIN DAMAGES, SO THIS LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU TO THE EXTENT PROHIBITED BY LAW.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your license if you materially breach these Terms, or if we reasonably believe it's been shared, obtained fraudulently, or used to circumvent activation limits. You may stop using the Software at any time by uninstalling it.

Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including ownership, warranty disclaimers, and limitation of liability, will survive.

13. Apple Disclaimer

ChassisWatch is not made, sponsored, endorsed, or affiliated with Apple Inc. Apple, MacBook, and macOS are trademarks of Apple Inc.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll update the "Effective Date" above. Continuing to use the Software after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.
